Hello Genie

How it Works

Step 1: The Pairing – Finding the Right Match

A Giver is a child from a privileged background who wants to make a difference in someone else’s life by sharing, supporting, and bonding with a child who needs it.

Giver families sign up through our outreach drives or website, filling out a short interest form with their child’s age, hobbies, preferred communication style, and reasons for joining.
Taker children are identified through our trusted network of NGOs, government schools, and grassroots organizations.

Giver is usually 1–2 years older than the Taker so that pre-loved clothes, toys, and books can be passed on.

We aim to match based on shared interests (like music, reading, football) and communication preferences (letters, drawings, videos).

Proximity (same city or region) is preferred when possible, to make in-person meetings easier in the long run.

Welcome Kits are shared with both children—containing their new friend’s short profile, a first-letter template, and a guide for the first exchange.

Step 2: The First Exchange – Starting the Journey

Once paired, the magic begins.
The Giver prepares a “Genie Box” to send to their Taker—a bundle of warmth, utility, and intention.

Pre-loved but well-maintained items: books, toys, stationery, clothes, footballs, puzzles, etc.

A handwritten letter or a drawing introducing themselves

Optional extras: storybooks, inspirational notes, DIY kits, or photos

We arrange pick-ups or designate drop-off centers in each city

Our volunteers deliver the boxes to the Taker families, along with help writing a response back if needed

This first exchange lays the foundation of trust, warmth, and curiosity.

Step 3: Sustained Monthly Bonding – Giving Becomes Growing

This is where Project Hello Genie truly blossoms.
What begins with one box continues into a growing, monthly exchange of care and connection.

Regular exchanges of useful items: books, clothing, school supplies

Creative exchanges: letters, poems, drawings, puzzles, videos

Provide educational support, such as tutoring, sharing resources, and encouraging school attendance, regular communication is encouraged through letters, virtual meetings, or visits, fostering a deeper connection.

Giver families may choose to support a portion of the Taker’s school fees, stationery or tuition needs—on a case-to-case basis, with complete transparency

Virtual catch-ups, festive greetings, and birthday wishes to deepen the connection

This monthly rhythm makes the bond sustainable, impactful, and more meaningful with time.

Step 4: Community, Mentorship & Growth – Building a Movement

Beyond one-on-one connections, Project Hello Genie builds a community.
We engage all our participants—children, families, schools, and NGOs—in a larger shared journey of empathy and purpose.

Art & craft events, reading circles, group games, storytelling workshops where both Givers and Takers participate together

Annual events to celebrate milestones, friendships, and personal growth.

Monthly check-ins with both children to ensure the relationship is progressing positively and that the needs of the underprivileged child are being met.
Collect feedback from parents, mentors, and children to continuously improve the project.
Impact Assessment: Track the educational, emotional, and material impact on the underprivileged child over time.
Document success stories and lessons learned to inspire others to join the cause.

Feedback forms, story sharing, and impact metrics help us learn and improve.

We run school campaigns, social media drives, and community sessions to bring more people into the movement.

As the initiative grows, our goal is to reach more children across cities and countries—without ever losing the warmth of individual connection.
